STUDENT MAGAZINE TEXTUAL ANALYSE

A high school has created this magazine in order for their students to continue being interested in science. There is a green background, which two shades of green, which creates a nature feel which is efficient since it is a science magazine and biology is associated with nature. The cover has a notebook effect, since there are crumpled up like lines and black holes like those on a notebook, this creates an informal, student feel. In the center there is a white patch, which looks like a screwed up piece of paper, again creating a student effect. In the white part there are orange and green swirls with a sign which states "science goes here" pointing to a person's head, this lets the buyer know it is a science related magazine, although it will not be very complicated science. There is also a blue lined box with "student magazine" stated in blue, rounded font, therefore the audience understand it is for students. All the writing is in capital letters except one sign which says "science" in smaller font, therefore all the important information stands out which is needed since there is a lot in the background. There is also a picture of a teenage boy which takes up the lower, left part of the page so we are drawn to him and the writing around him first. Since the audience first see the boy, they see he is smiling and happy so the magazine seems fun, something most would not associate with science. All the front cover has a positive and informal vibe which makes the student think the magazine is entertaining and cool. This magazine is aimed at teenage boys, this is done by a picture of a boy, the messy feel to the page, and the green and blue colours used. The boy smiling also creates a friendly feel, so it makes the high school and science seem welcoming and something which makes you happy. All in all, the magazine creates a positive and fun image to the reader, making the subject of science seem interesting.
